RedBar Frankfurt – FAQ

What is RedBar?

RedBar is a global community of watch collectors and enthusiasts founded in New York City in 2007. Today, RedBar chapters exist in more than 90 cities worldwide.

RedBar Frankfurt is the official chapter for the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region - and beyond. Our gatherings bring together people who share a passion for mechanical watches, craftsmanship and conversation.

Do I have to own a watch to join?

No.

While many members are collectors, ownership is not a requirement. Curiosity, genuine interest and respect for the community matter more than the watch itself.

Many members started their journey long before owning their first mechanical watch.

How can I become a member?

Membership requests can be submitted through the application form on this website.

Each request is reviewed individually. The goal is to preserve a respectful and trusted environment among collectors.

Is there a membership fee?

No.

RedBar Frankfurt is a non-commercial community and membership itself is free of charge.

Occasionally, events may involve a small cost depending on the venue or format.

How often do you meet?

RedBar Frankfurt typically hosts gatherings several times per year.

These range from informal collector meet-ups to special evenings hosted together with watch brands or partners.

Where do the meetings take place?

Locations vary and are communicated only to confirmed participants shortly before the event.

This helps ensure a trusted and secure environment for everyone attending.

Are RedBar events open to the public?

No.

RedBar gatherings are private community events. Participation is limited to members and invited guests.

Can I bring a guest?

Occasionally members may bring a guest.

Guests or partners are welcome with prior arrangement and are expected to share the same respect for the community and its values.

Are watches bought or sold at RedBar events?

RedBar gatherings are not commercial environments.

Conversations about watches are always welcome — buying and selling is not the purpose of our meetings.

Are dealers or watch professionals allowed to join?

RedBar is primarily a collectors’ community.

Professionals from the watch industry – including retailers – are welcome to participate as collectors, guests or speakers. Many share the same passion for watches as the community itself.

However, RedBar gatherings are not sales events. The focus is on conversation, collecting and the appreciation of mechanical watchmaking.

Can brands participate in RedBar events?

Yes.

From time to time, selected watch brands host gatherings for members. These evenings focus on dialogue, discovery and community rather than sales presentations.

Can I take photos during events?

Photos are generally welcome.

However, discretion and respect for other members always come first. Some participants prefer not to appear in photos, and we ask everyone to respect that.

In which language do you communicate?

Most conversations take place in English, especially online, as RedBar is an international community.

However, German is naturally spoken as well - especially at our gatherings.

Community Values

RedBar Frankfurt is built on three simple principles:

Respect – for fellow collectors and their watches
Conversation – learning from each other
Trust – creating a welcoming and discreet environment
